About the team
At Productboard, we fundamentally believe that the world's best products are created by product makers who possess an exceptionally deep understanding of their customers' needs. Whether they are Product Managers, Designers, or Engineers, the brightest minds behind the most successful and beloved products are those who truly embody their customers.
That is why we have centered the functionality of our Product Management Platform around understanding customers, competitors, feedback, and user research. We've built a unique set of capabilities designed to distill critical customer insights to inform key product decisions.
The Insights team at Productboard oversees this critically important set of capabilities and the underlying platform that centralizes data about the market, including information on customers and competitors, user feedback, and research from interviews, emails, support tickets, social media conversations, app reviews, direct customer requests, and more.
We're seeking a seasoned Principal Product Manager to lead this critical team. In this role, you'll be responsible for owning and developing the entire product area related to customer insights. You'll also work broadly across our platform to ensure that all our capabilities are fundamentally customer-centric.
You will play a pivotal role in driving both strategy and execution to stay ahead of our competition. The capabilities we deliver and the set of use cases we solve for have never been fully addressed by any software product before, meaning you must be prepared for the uncertainty and excitement of operating at the forefront of innovation in our space.
Our product is driven by a strong product-led motion, and you will be among people who understand the challenges of simplifying complexity without compromising functionality for large enterprises.
This role is based in our San Francisco office, where you will work closely with your engineering and design colleagues on-site at least three days a week to ensure the close alignment necessary for the highly innovative nature of your work. You will also collaborate with several other globally located product teams and have the opportunity to travel to Prague and other European destinations.
On a typical day, you will:
- Uncover and cultivate a deep understanding of the customer-centric requirements essential for modern product managers and their stakeholders.
- Develop and execute a product roadmap that prioritizes the most important customer-centric capabilities, focusing on delivering highly differentiated value to our customers.
- Drive the design and development of new features and enhancements for our existing product capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, product marketing, and customer support, to ensure successful product launches and alignment with business objectives.
- Stay updated with industry trends, competition, and best practices, and drive their adoption within our team.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills by effectively translating complex concepts into actionable implications for the business.
- Contribute your experience and best practices to support your product colleagues, further advancing our product craft and internal alignment.
- Act as an external advocate for modern customer-centric product management best practices among our customers and the broader market.
About you:
- 8+ years of experience in product management, preferably in Enterprise B2B SaaS.
- Proficient in product management tooling and familiar with frameworks and methodologies such as lean, JTBD, agile, and various prioritization techniques.
- Great understanding of technology and product architecture.
- Experience in working on complex collaborative products that are architected as modular and extensible platforms or at least have some aspects of a modern platform approach.
- Strong track record of delivering products with cross-functional teams to enterprise customers. Appreciation and understanding of the complex needs of large enterprise organizations.
- Highly skilled in conducting user research and building empathy with customers.
- Experience with business intelligence and product analytics tools to measure the success of your team’s efforts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly to diverse audiences, including senior executives internally and externally.
- Proactive, curious, and independent, with a passion for solving broader problems, advancing your craft, and driving company-wide impact.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching junior colleagues, as well as leading across the company through indirect influence.
- Educational background in computer science or related practice. A reputable tech industry-focused MBA is a strong plus.
What’s in it for you?
- Be part of building the world’s first and best Product Platform that fundamentally changes how our industry approaches the craft of Product Management.
- Your customers are going to be the best product teams and minds out there. You will have the opportunity to learn from and advance the work of the best of the best in your field.
- Be a part of a growing and innovative, mission-driven company, with the opportunity to shape the future of our product and customer experience, and to define an entire new market category.
- Collaborate with a talented and passionate team, dedicated to making products that matter, together.

Our story
Productboard was founded in 2014 by Hubert Palan and Daniel Hejl with a simple mission: to help companies make products that matter. In the years since, we’ve grown from a handful of people to hundreds, backed by some of the biggest VC firms in Silicon Valley.
Today, Productboard is recognized as one of the hottest tech startups, having become the world's thousandth unicorn and being named the most valuable startup in the Czech Republic by Forbes Magazine.
Product Vision
Productboard seeks to be the system of record for every digital product, providing software that is purpose-built for the product management lifecycle. Product Management is the single driver of growth and innovation in many companies, yet PMs have gone too long being forced to use tools built for other departments and other workflows. We believe Productboard can enable companies to unlock product-led growth with customers and their needs at the center and ultimately build better products faster.
Market Opportunity
We are targeting a massive and growing market of digital product makers. As software continues to eat the world, the number of digital product makers and the importance of product decisions keeps growing exponentially.
Productboard's paid users are not just Product Managers, but also Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Product Marketers, executive stakeholders, and even members of customer-facing functions like Sales, and Customers Success.
More than just software
We are building a software platform, but we are also pioneering a whole new category of Product Management systems. Just like Siebel and later Salesforce, created and dominated Customer Relationship Management, Hubspot and Marketo pioneered Marketing Automation, and Gainsight created a new Customer Success category, we have the unique opportunity to create and dominate a new category for Product Management Systems.
